Trust in Security

There was an interesting slide used in one of the presentations from the recently completed ESX Conference in Charlotte. The session addressed trends. The slide was based on our research here at ESA, and reported by our Executive Director Merlin Guilbeau.

It displayed results from ESA's survey regarding who would be the most trusted to install additional services beyond security systems. Would it be cable companies? How about a local electrician? The results, not surprisingly, demonstrated what most of us probably suspected: If a customer wants more products and services, they trust companies in the electronic security industry to do the job.

The amazing statistic is the security industry took home first with a 70% (respondents ranking us first) response rate. That's great! It demonstrates we have a strong image - an image we will tout to others.

Interestingly, second place didn't go to the cable companies. It went to IT companies and they were followed in third place by HVAC businesses. It's clear that we stand out to consumers, and they respect the job we do.

All of you who participate in ESA or who get the opportunity to read this blog: CONGRATULATIONS!!! You deserve the accolades. Let's make sure that trust grows in the years ahead.

There were actually more interesting results than that. Will any of the survey result will be posted for other ESA members who didn't get the chance to attend the annual meeting?
