Big vs. Small

Posted By Dave Simon, Tuesday, November 08, 2011

There's a fascinating dynamic in the electronic security industry and it revolves around the numerous differences that set big companies apart from small ones. ESA is made up of big, small and medium-sized companies and we're healthier because of the mix.

At the same time, there are issues that companies must address if they pick up new lines of business and move closer to the "big” column. Adding commercial fire installations, for example, affects company size, training, employee recruitment and how services are sold to prospective and current customers.

Commercial fire is a more complicated enterprise than some of the other product lines offered by many ESA companies. Because of this, to do it right, companies must be better prepared. ESA is here for you regardless of whether you are a small company, taking on commercial fire as part of your product line, or a bigger company, looking for enhanced training for your technicians.

As more companies add commercial fire to their portfolio of services, ESA wants to make sure our members do so properly. Meeting NFPA 72 requirements, keeping unwanted fire alarms to a minimum and using the highest quality equipment are just three of the challenges we see for companies entering this field.

If you're entering - or thinking about entering - commercial fire, come meet with us and let's make sure you get started right. We're here to help you down that path.
