The Growing Carbon Monoxide Sector

Posted By Dave Simon, Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Laws mandating carbon monoxide detection are sprouting in states like mushrooms in a forest after a hard rain. Some are driven by a single incident – a tragic death. Others fully recognize the important safety features a carbon monoxide detector provides homeowners. Regardless of the cause, this is another market opening up for the electronic security industry.

It’s easy to rail against legislation and regulations. But when it comes to carbon monoxide sales, having regulatory and legislative backing is a good thing. Sales reps for your company can make the point that new installations require the device. Certainly, sales personnel can sell this equipment on its merits. At the same time, when a state requires the detector, it makes our job that much easier.

The growth in state and local laws fuels sales growth. Enforcement is another factor. As local and state jurisdictions put enforcement mechanisms into place, it becomes even more important that the residences affected by these laws meet the established standard.

Get up to speed on your state and local laws. Find out exactly what is necessary when it comes to installing and servicing carbon monoxide detection systems. Then, establish yourself as the go-to expert for your customers so that they get the best you have to offer and, ultimately, build the customer loyalty all businesses thrive on.
