Daily Recognition

There are many ways to recognize employees and many different reasons for giving them praise. Two points always remain important: Be specific and consistent.

One way to reinforce sales of security systems and the related products our industry sells is to establish a daily reward routine. First, you need to decide what behavior you want to reward.

You might want to reward the first sale of the day. Or you could select the first person to hit three sales in one day, or five sales for the week.  It’s  up to you and how you want to recognize and reinforce success in your business.

You could buy pizza to commemorate the first sale of the day or fill a large glass container with $1, $5 and $10 bills and, when a specific daily or weekly goal is met, allow that employee to pull a bill from the jar. Another idea is to develop team competitions with coaches and standings.

There are many ways to recognize, reward and motivate your employees by reinforcing the behaviors you value as a business owner or manager. Pick a few new ones and see how they work for your sales folks and technicians. If you don’t get the results you want, try a new idea. We’ll send a few your way from time to time.
