Turn Your Business Into a Star with YouTube

One of the common characteristics uniting us in today’s world is the long list of things in which we are NOT experts. As technology advances, there are more things to master and less time to adjust. With the advent of handheld devices, even more commands and options are being thrown our way.

One tool is not only readily available, but also easy to use: video. You can shoot a short video using a smartphone, which is typically easy to operate. Once you get the hang of it, you can upload it to YouTube and use it to promote your company.

YouTube has become a worldwide phenomenon. Thousands of clips posted to the site have captured the public’s imagination. But ESA members can use YouTube to capture visuals and dialogue to promote their businesses. By posting your video to YouTube and linking the video to your website, you can take promotion to the next step and get greater exposure.

Making a video is relatively simple: Decide what you want to say to potential customers, select who you want to say it, and start taping. The first take probably won’t be the best, so be prepared to try it several times. Once you get the hang of delivering your message, you should end up with something to share with prospective customers.

Post it to YouTube using a funny, short, catchy tag line, and then direct potential customers to a link to the video on your website, or to the video itself on YouTube.

Uploading a video isn’t difficult; there are many step-by-step tutorials available on the internet. Just type "upload a video to YouTube” in any search engine and you’ll get dozens of easy-to-understand results that will walk you through the process. Or, if you prefer, here's a particularly easy tutorial.

You may become a hit ... or not. Regardless, you’ll be taking a step to reach out in new ways, and in doing so, you may make your business a star.
