CAA successful in defeating California’s Energy Commission On-Off Load Battery Requirement

Posted By Laurie Knox, Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Last year, ESA and SIA, along with a coalition of groups, secured a national exemption for the Department of Energy’s on-off load battery requirements. The legislation, which passed Congress, exempted the security industry from this onerous regulation.

California's Energy Commission, however, moved to ignore the federal mandate exempting the security industry from the on-off load battery requirements. CAA, following the path laid by the ESA and SIA, fought back and was able to obtain California Energy Commission compliance to the security industry exemption as passed by Congress.

By cooperatively pushing back in California, CAA, ESA, SIA, other national groups and manufacturers were able to maintain an exemption from this onerous regulation. Congratulations to CAA!
