For security systems to be fully effective there needs to be a response by a well trained, professional law enforcement officer. Yet, all too often we are the last to know when a law enforcement agency has made a decision to adopt by legislation or policy a restrictive response to our security systems.
Unfortunately, there is often a communication breakdown between law enforcement, the alarm industry and alarm users. The responsibility to fix this breakdown falls squarely on the shoulders of the alarm industry. We are the voice of alarm users who are our customers.
Ron Walters of SIAC
The Law Enforcement Outreach program is an ongoing effort coordinated by SIAC to encourage local alarm dealers to establish a relationship with their local and state police agencies. The materials presented and provided as part of this program detail a step by step explanation on to initiate contact as well as what to say when you meet.
In this webinar, Ron Walters, a director for the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) will share how to best promote cooperation between alarm users, law enforcement and the industry.
In his responsabilities with SIAC, Ron's tracks and reviews alarm ordinances, drafts alarm ordinances, makes presentations and responds nationally when there is a threat to police response to alarms.
You'll leave the webinar knowing why we need to have direct and open communication with law enforcement and how to promote and maintain this important relationship. You'll also learn about implementing "Best Practices”.
