ESA Seeks Expertise from Professionals with School Security Experience

Posted By Jeaneen Bengtson, Tuesday, April 23, 2013

A representative group of industry professionals with experience in school security is being formed to develop an "Electronic Security Guidelines for Schools," using a group consensus method, with the final draft to be issued on June 1, 2013. These guidelines will represent the collective wisdom and knowledge of the security industry and be used as an aid to school officials in their efforts to secure their schools.

The selected experts will:

  • participate in individual phone interviews to discuss their experience in school security and the practices they use.
  • review written drafts of the guidelines.
  • participate in 3 to 5 group conference calls to resolve and merge variations in practices.
  • attend a one-day in-person meeting in the mid-May time frame, at a location agreeable to the group.

ESA will gratefully acknowledge all contributions of experts in the final guidelines, which will be circulated nationwide, providing valuable advice to those addressing school security and valuable exposure for contributors.

Interested parties are asked to reply via e-mail to no later than May 1.

The time frame for development of this important document is short, so early replies are greatly appreciated. Any questions regarding this project may also be directed to the above e-mail address.

We know your time is valuable, and we appreciate your contributions to this important industry initiative. Together, we can provide a vital resource for schools as they focus more attention on their security needs – making a significant positive impact for our members, their customers and the safety of our children.
