YSP Fall Forum was a Home Run

Posted By Laurie Knox, Tuesday, October 01, 2013

Last Tuesday in Chicago, IL at the Historic Allerton Hotel, the brilliant minds of ESA’s Young Security Professionals (YSPs) got together to collaborate on some trending topics in the world of security and business change management.

At the event, attendees enjoyed group activities in the heart of Chicago including a Chicago Cubs game and a group dinner at Harry Caray’s. ESA’s YSPs also heard from sponsors in sessions that focused on topics such as end-user solutions, preparing a business for sale and school safety.

The two General Sessions were major highlights at the event and received rave reviews. The Breakfast General Session-Successfully Navigating The Generation Gap, presented by Chris Utter—President of Central 1 Security, Dana Klesh—Owner of United Alarm and Brandon Savage—YSP Chair stimulated an interactive dialogue that resulted in the sharing of many best practices surrounding family business succession and working with the next generation.

The Lunch General Session presented by Dee Ann Harn—CEO of RFI Communications and Security Systems provided current and new YSP members with insight on how to approach, manage, structure and drive positive outcomes when tackling changes within a company. "We had a good blend of ‘regular’ attendees and ‘new’ attendees at the event. Everyone had lots of opportunities to socialize and get to know each other outside of the sessions. The feedback I’ve heard from the new attendees is that they were able to make good connections that can help them as they look to solve some of their challenges within their respective companies.

"Chicago was a fantastic location, with great weather, fun activities, delicious food, and a lively nightlife. Overall, it was a success!” said Brandon Savage, YSP Council Chair. The 2013 YSP Fall Forum was sponsored by Honeywell, Interlogix, Axis Communications, Tri-Ed Distribution, Telguard, System Sensor, Alarm Capital Alliance, and Alarm Product Distributors.
