Joel Kent Earns Prestigious CASIA Past Presidents' Award

Posted By Jeaneen Bengtson, Tuesday, April 16, 2013

CASIA Past Presidents' Award recipient Joel Kent

Recently, the Connecticut Alarm & Systems Integrators Association (CASIA) honored Joel Kent with the CASIA Past Presidents' award. Kent was selected for the award due to his innumerable years of dedication and exceptional talent in advancing the professionalism and statewide recognition of CASIA.

In addition, the award recognizes Kent's leadership in developing and implementing a superior education program that is recognized by the state of Connecticut as a training platform in the security industry.

CASIA Past President David Wilson presented Kent with the award at the CASIA Membership Services Night & EXPO. An excerpt of Wilson's presentation speech is below:

"The recipient of this years award is no stranger to the industry. Although not an alarm geek by trade originally, he broke into the business by way of law enforcement. This individual has been a committee member, board member and a Santa Claus! An avid skier, a member of the ski patrol and in summer a not so good golfer. I am pretty sure that he has been a team member during the CASIA golf outings and have won the High Gross category each and every year. If you have taken any number of classes from our association, chances are that this person has been one of the instructors. Jokes, video clips and war stories are a regular part of his classes. Some appropriate, some not so appropriate and some just down right funny! Our recipient is also the type of guy that will always take your call. Day or night, any subject about our industry he is very easy to get on the phone. The hard part is getting him off the phone!

On the serious side of things though, our recipient is the type of guy that whenever the association needs assistance or support on a project, he is there. I don’t think I have ever heard him complain about his volunteer work or turn down an offer to serve. As our own education chair, he is constantly running short on instructors. This does not deter him as he simply shoulders the burden to continue our program for the good of our association and its members. Our recipient consistently starts and ends most classes all the while he is still running his own business.

As I reached out to the cadre of Past Presidents, the same theme kept coming back to me. Dedicated, reliable and professional. His professionalism is unmatched and aside from our benefiting from this man’s efforts, so do his clients. I would venture to say that the systems he installs are probably near flawless.

He not only serves our state association as Education Coordinator but also serves ESA as Vice Chair of the Education and Training Committee.

Please help me welcome the 2013 CASIA Past Presidents' Award recipient Joel Kent of FBN Security in Windsor Connecticut."
