2014 ESA Gives Back Mission Trip
ESA and Mission 500 will lead an industry-wide mission trip to Mexico on October 26-30. This trip will focus on a sanitation project to give families in the San Luis Potosi region clean uncontaminated water. Participants will have the opportunity to not only strengthen and construct water sanitation systems, but also educate families and build health awareness related to these issues.
Globally, approximately two million children die each year (6,000 daily) due to preventable infections spread by polluted water or inadequate sanitation. The challenges of water and sanitation depend on people's access to these service and on improving the quality and operational efficiency.
Through this mission trip, the security industry will directly impact this problem by constructing systems, such as ecological toilets, that ‘sanitize’ and ‘recycle’. This process enables the indigenous population to prevent pollution rather than attempt to control pollution, render their waste safe for reuse, and contribute to their food supply through the production of organic fertilizers.
Participants should plan on five or six days of travel. In addition to the sanitation project, missionaries will be able to take advantage of cultural trips and activities around the region as well. Please click here for a sample agenda of the mission trip (not including travel days).
**Deadline to Sign Up for the Mission Trip is September 1, 2014**
