Managing alarms more effectively benefits everyone. The customer that knows and understands his system cuts down the burden on monitoring facilities by reducing or eliminating alarm dispatches. This saves an alarm monitoring company time, resources and money.
Over the past several year's the alarm industry has worked closely with agencies such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), National Sheriffs Association (NSA), and the False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA) to develop and refine successful elements for a solid alarm ordinance that will reduce false dispatches and in many cases allow for cost recovery. These best practices have been incorporated into the Model Ordinance. We estimate that more than a thousand law enforcement agencies have used part, or all, of this model.
